Dear Friends:
As our students have no doubt reminded you, our annual observance of Catholic Schools Week starts in ten days. Many students look forward to the week each year because it includes enjoyable events and special treats. But it’s also a time for us to celebrate the enduring value of Catholic education and focus on the gift that it provides to our young children. During Catholic Schools Week, we reach out to the community to build awareness of what our school offers. And we thank all those who work hard every day to make our school excellent: students, families, faculty, staff, volunteers, community supporters, and local and national leaders.
One of the most important roles of families is preparing young people for fulfilling lives of love and service to their families, their communities and the Lord. That is why the 2010 Catholic School’s Week theme is particularly fitting. “Catholic Schools: Dividends for Life” underscores the long-standing tradition of Catholic education to instill in students the faith, knowledge, morals, and discipline that will enable them to fulfill their future roles in life. Now, more than ever, a Catholic education is truly an investment in the future that is worth the consideration of every family.
Check the attached schedule of events to see what we’ve planned for the week. Please join us in the celebration, and encourage your friends and neighbors to participate also, particularly those who may be considering Catholic education for their own children. I think they will be impressed by the attitude, behavior and accomplishments of the students they observe.
Also, please join me in saying thank you to our teachers, staff, administrators, board members, volunteers and everyone else involved in running Sacred Heart School. Through their dedication and commitment they make our school an excellent example of how Catholic schools provide “dividends for life.”

Sacred Heart School begins Catholic Schools Week Sunday, January 31, 2010. Each day this week we will celebrate how Sacred Heart School exhibits Dividends for Life as we gather to share faith, knowledge, discipline, and morals. Please join us as we enjoy each other’s company and honor those who help make our school special.
Sunday, January 31, 2010 – “Catholic Schools Dividends for Life: In our Parish Community”
- Student readers at all weekend masses.
- Open House (9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon).
- Book Fair Begins. (continues all week)
- New student registration all week.
Monday, February 1, 2010 – “Catholic Schools Dividends for Life: In our Nation”
- Thank you cards sent to our armed services.
- Armed Service Guest Speaker
- Red, White, and Blue colors with the school uniform.
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 – “Catholic Schools Dividends for Life: In our Community”
- 50’s Casual Day
- Pet Photo Contest
- Fundraiser for a local animal shelter.
- Movie Afternoon for students

Pet Photo Contest
For $1.00 you can enter your pet(real or stuffed) into the “CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK PET PHOTO CONTEST”
Please submit your photo in an envelope marked with your childs name and grade. Please lable the back of the photo with pets name, student name and grade.
All proceeds will go to a local animal shelter.
All Sacred Heart School students have been asked to attend Holy Thursday Mass and Benediction. Please have your children report to the church hall at 6:30 PM on April 1 in their formal uniform. 
Dollars for Scholars gift cards will not be sold Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday.
Living Stations will be Tuesday, March 30th at 2:00 in the Church.
